Llandudno, "Queen of The Welsh Resorts" was so-named because the deposed Queen of Romania spent much time there which helped her to try and get over her terrible losses.  She gave Llandudno its motto: Hardd Hafan Hedd (Beautiful Haven of Peace)  Llandudno has managed to retain its Victorian charm, built on Liverpool Bay between the Great and Little Ormes, headlands named after the Viking word for Sea serpent.

Anglesey: Mother Island - so called because the Romans called it Mona and the Welsh word for Mother is Mon.  It is also because it is a very fertile island being able to grow crops.
